COUNSELLING THERAPY

Get to Know Amyn Jaffer, RTC, RPC-C

I’m a Registered Counselling Therapist and founder of Apex Therapy, serving clients across Vancouver’s Lower Mainland. After a successful 30-year career as a business owner and active involvement in non-profit and community-based initiatives, I transitioned into therapy to support others more directly through life’s challenges.

I work with professionals, individuals, and couples navigating relationship stress, grief, family conflict, addiction, anxiety, and major life transitions. My approach is practical, grounded, and shaped by lived experience—offering clarity, insight, and forward momentum.

Clients appreciate my calm, non-judgmental presence and my ability to meet them where they are—with both empathy and direction. I also bring cultural awareness, including an understanding of South Asian family systems, when relevant. Whether you’re facing a crossroads or feeling stuck, I provide a space to slow down, be heard, and move forward—with practical tools, strategies, and support tailored to your goals.

How We Work

At Apex Therapy, sessions are collaborative and trauma-informed. I adapt my approach to what you need, drawing from a wide range of evidence-based approaches:

  • Person-Centered Therapy
Grounded in empathy, respect, and unconditional positive regard

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
For identifying and shifting unhelpful thought patterns

  • Humanistic & Psychodynamic Approaches
For deep self-awareness, emotional insight, and healing patterns

  • Narrative Therapy
Helping you reframe the stories you carry about yourself

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
    Improving attachment security in relationships

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
For managing emotions, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Building psychological flexibility and values-based living

  • Attachment-Based Therapy
Exploring early bonds and how they shape present relationships

  • Mindfulness & Body-Based Tools

For grounding, emotional regulation, and nervous system support

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Some people come to feel better. Others want to understand themselves more deeply. We can do both.

Graciously shared by a client,

"Thank you for helping me through a time when I could barely manage myself. Your support, compassion, and expertise have made a real difference. The awareness I now have will always be my strength."
